Plan of action 2010
For the Assembly of representatives meeting, item 16 on the agenda
The extraordinary assembly in February this year adopted a set of priorities and a plan of action for 2009. For the remainder of this year, the board will do its best to implement this plan, even though we are aware of the fact that we do not have the resources that will make it possible to maintain a full time staff.
Since the board elected by the ordinary assembly of representatives this year will be quite different from the present board, and the secretarial tasks will have a different solution, we find it reasonable that the assembly this year refers the decision about the plan for 2010 to the new board. We hope that the board will have an opportunity to meet later this year, or in the beginning of next year, to decide on a new plan, and that the economic situation will be clearer then. As of now, we do not know what resources will be available, since our applications for substantial support from the Nordic Council of Ministers and the SAFF foundation (Stiftelsen Ansvar För Framtiden) have not been decided on. Our possibilities will also be dependant on the willingness by the member organisations to pay their membership fees and to give extra contributions.
In our opinion, the memorandum of priorities and the plan of action 2009 decided on by the extraordinary assembly in February this year gives good directions also for the coming year, even if we have to take into account that lack of resources will make it necessary to more carefully decide which activities will be most important to carry out, and to be less ambitious in other areas.
It is reasonable that the new board, with a new president, will decide on these priorities and plans. Naturally, a more detailed plan for coming years will have to be based on a dialogue with our member organisations.
In addition to the activities specified in the plan of action for 2009, we hope that NordAN after the assembly of representatives meeting this year also will have a new drug policy platform. One of the tasks for coming years then will be to spread information about and follow up the policy outlined in this platform and others will lay in continuation of the plans stated in the applications to the Nordic Council of Ministers and the SAFF foundation (Stiftelsen Ansvar För Framtiden) if granted.
