Denmark: Alcoholics unaware of free treatment

Figures from the National Institute of Public Health at the University of Southern Denmark reveal that 140,000 Danes are alcohol dependent, 585,000 have a dangerous level of consumption and 860,000 have a consumption that is too high, DR.dk report.

At the same time, an opinion poll carried out by Alcohol and Society Denmark, a national organisation working for the prevention of alcoholism, shows that:
Four out of five Danes between the ages of 30 and 70 are not aware that all local authorities are required to offer free, individually adapted treatment to anyone with an alcohol consumption that is too high and who would like to receive treatment for it.
