The 2nd International Young Carers Conference will challenge the international community to focus on the issues of children as next of kin and young carers. It aims to support society to take responsibility and actualize the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and, in particular, when a child has a family member who is seriously ill or has an addiction or mental illness or experiences bereavement in their family.
We aim for this conference to strengthen collaboration between countries and different stake holders via inspiring collaborative policy, research and practice development work. The overall aim is to maximize children’s health, well-being, development and education.
The conference will be held from 28-31 May 2017 in Malmö, Sweden and is co-hosted by Nka (Swedish Family Care Competence Centre) Linnaeus University, BarnsBeste (National Competence Network Norway), FORTE (Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare), the National Board of Health and Welfare in Sweden, the National Board of Social Services in Denmark in co-operation with Eurocarers, Region Skåne, Malmö City and Region Jönköping County.
