Finland to raise excise duties on alcoholic beveragesNovember 06, 2017
Raising the alcohol tax will raise the retail prices of alcoholic beverages by approximately five percent on average next year. The government submitted a draft law amendment on Thursday, November 2.
Excise duty on alcoholic beverages will rise by about 10% on average next year. The tax increase applies to all alcoholic beverages, but the emphasis is mildly on weaker drinks.
The increases are estimated to increase state tax revenue annually by around EUR 100 million. The government agreed to tighten the alcohol tax last August. The increases will help to ease the tax burden on labour.
