Latvia: Police have carried out nearly 3,000 checks since the publication of illegal trade spots mapMarch 20, 2015
Since June 2012, when residents were given the opportunity to anonymously provide information about places that deal in illegal trade of excise goods and narcotics, Latvian State Police has carried out more than 3,000 inspections of such locations, Baltic News Network reports.
A total of 2,004 administrative violation reports have been filed in regard to illegal trade locations mentioned by residents. 634 criminal processes have also been launched in regard to uncovered violations, State Police reports.
State Police reminds that any person can participate in measures aimed at combating illegal trade of alcohol, cigarettes or narcotics by simply providing information about illegal trade locations to State Police anonymously. It is possible to do by simply marking the address on the map available on the website of Latvian State Police.
