Alcohol availability must be reduced in Lithuania, says Interior Minister

Interior Minister Saulius Skvernelis has met with representatives of non-governmental and other organisations to discuss ways to reduce alcohol availability in Lithuania, Delfi reports.

“I’m not a supporter of absolute alcohol prohibition, but really I think that its availability needs to be reduced. In addition, the understanding of awareness that alcohol and driving are incompatible must be promoted. That is why this Zero Blood Alcohol Content bill has been created,” Skvernelis said. Among the meeting participants were the president of the National Tobacco and Alcohol Control Coalition Aurelijus Veryga, the president of the Lithuanian Medical Students’ Association Rytis Kalinauskas, health promoter Juozas Dapšauskas, and actor Arūnas Sakalauskas.
