“Alkohol og Samfund” Wins a National Public Health Prize

Dansk Selskab for Folkesundhed (The Danish Society for Public Health) has awarded its Public Health Prize for 2014 to Eurocare member (also member of NordAN) Alkohol og Samfund (Alcohol and Society), Eurocare website reports.

The Public Health Prize is ordained to the Danish Society for Public Health and is annually awarded to a person, project, institution or a municipality for innovative and exciting action. The prize this year was awarded to Alkohol & Samfund for their large nationwide effort to challenge alcohol culture in Denmark, in order to strengthen the prevention of alcohol problems.

In particular, it highlights the association’s enormous task of monitoring alcohol marketing to children and young people. Alkohol og Samfund has focused on the structural factors that affect Denmark’s high alcohol consumption, and it is this type of initiative which has contributed to a reduction towards previous levels.
