Estonia: Supreme Court rejects Statoil’s alcohol ban complaint

The Supreme Court said it will not process a request by fuel and retail company Statoil to rule on Tallinn City Council’s ban on the sale of strong alcohol in petrol stations, ERR News report.

The ban is due to come into effect on July 1.

The ban on selling strong alcohol in petrol stations is only one side of Tallinn’s long crusade to curb alcohol consumption.

After Statoil filed its suit, NordAN sent a letter of concern to the embassies of Norway and Canada in Estonia and headquarters of Statoil and Alimentation CoucheTard.
