Sweden: Teen parents’ guide to alcohol was published last week

Swedish parents of teens found a “teenage phrase book” in their mailboxes last week, with tips for how to speak to minors about alcohol, Radio Sweden reports.

he guide includes facts and tips and also encourages parents to examine their own attitude to alcohol.

“We know that many parents want to talk to their children about these things but it’s not always easy, so the teenage phrase book could come in handy,” Magnus Jägerskog, CEO of IQ, told news agency TT.

The phrase book, which is published by IQ – a subsidiary of Sweden’s state-run alcohol monopoly Systembolaget – discusses whether adults should allow children to drink alcohol at home and why their own attitude to alcohol affects their teenage kids.
